Scott Douglas, 37, worked at Cava restaurant at 125 Summer St. and allegedly conspired with his 19-year-old stepson, Nikolas Lao, to stage and report an armed robbery at closing time on Dec. 29, authorities said. “The pair intentionally misled responding officers and fabricated the details of the incident,” police said in a statement.

"This concocted incident instilled fear in our community and used up police time and resources that could have been dedicated elsewhere."

A Cava employee is accused of staging an armed robbery along with his stepson at the Downtown Crossing restaurant while he worked there last month, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said Monday.
