GE Aerospace, whose joint venture made the engines of the Boeing airplane that crashed in the deadliest aviation disaster on South Korean soil, joined the investigation as Seoul extended by a week special inspections of all 101 Boeing 737-800 jets.

The flight was carrying 181 passengers and crew when it belly-landed before slamming into a barrier, killing all aboard except two flight attendants.

A 95-year-old woman died at an area hospital after being involved in a two-vehicle crash Monday in Middletown, authorities said. The crash took place on Newman Springs Road (Route 520) in the area of Spring Garden Road at around 8:30 a.m., Middletown police said.
