Snow is starting | 5:30 p.m. The National Weather Service in Raleigh said in its 4:55 p.m. radar update that it has received reports of flurries and very light snow near Fayetteville.

Snow is expected in the area today, starting this afternoon. The Fayetteville Observer will be providing live updates throughout the day on the latest weather forecast and road conditions. The flecks of white that folks will see this afternoon across the Cape Fear region aren't feathers from a passing poultry truck.

Schools • Cumberland County Schools has canceled all athletic and after-school events Tuesday, according to the district's Facebook page. Schools will be closed for students Wednesday. Employees will work remotely.
