Michigan state Rep. Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia) said she’s received death threats after revealing during a rally last week that she underwent voluntary sterilization because she was concerned about the future of reproductive health care during President Donald Trump’s second term in office.

Lansing — Michigan Rep. Laurie Pohutsky, a Democrat who revealed she underwent voluntary sterilization because of concerns over contraception access under Republican President Donald Trump, said she's been receiving threats after her comments this week spread across the internet.

LANSING, MI -- Standing in front of hundreds of protestors at the Michigan Capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 5, Rep. Laurie Pohutsky, D-Livonia, said she had surgery to become voluntarily sterile out of fear for how President Donald Trump’s administration could limit future reproductive health care access.

The Michigan state representative announced the decision to have the medical procedure during a protest at the Michigan State Capitol.
