North Texans brace for “measurable” snow starting Wednesday night as an Arctic air mass brings below-freezing temperatures and a wintery mix of precipitation.

Ahead of the expected snowfall later in the week, North Texans woke up to freezing temperatures in the 20s on Monday, Jan. 6.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth forecasts widespread snowfall totals between 1 and 4 inches, but some areas could see up to 6 inches.

Earlier this week, the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center released its 8-14 day weather outlook that is valid from Jan. 7-13, 2025. The outlook showed that much of the country would face subfreezing temperatures, with some states, including Texas, potentially receiving snow.
