New York Gov. Kathy Hochul wants to hire federal employees that have been fired as a result of cuts spearheaded by Elon Musk's DOGE.

Governor Kathy Hochul spoke Tuesday, addressing the ongoing strikes happening outside state prisons by corrections officers.

On Tuesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the launch of the state’s new “You’re Hired” initiative to recruit public sector workers laid off by the Trump administration to join the New York State government.

Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado announced Monday that he won’t run alongside Hochul in next year’s election, marking a clean break with a governor who first appointed him to the state’s number-two role in 2022.

Antonio Delgado, who became New York's Lieutenant Governor in 2022, won't run with Hochul in 2026, he said via Instagram Monday, Feb. 24.

Officials said the initiative comes as the new federal administration utilizes the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, to lay off thousands of federal workers.
