The St. Louis Cardinals have been open about their desire to trade third baseman Nolan Arenado this offseason, but no progress has been made into January. That may be changing, though Arenado will have to take the initiative to make it happen.

Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. spoke with reporters on Monday afternoon to conclude the organization’s Winter Warm-Up weekend. Unsurprisingly, he touched on the team’s biggest offseason storyline: the Nolan Arenado trade discussions.

There hasn't been much chatter since a deal fell apart with Houston, and that has kept the Cardinals from moving forward on other signings they want to make.
