Rohit Sharma will lead India in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament, hoping to replicate past successes.

India had won the tournament in 2013 when it was held in the United Kingdom, and were joint winners with hosts Sri Lanka in 2002.

The Indian cricket team last lifted ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, defeating England under two-time World Cup winner MS Dhoni's captaincy. Although India reached the final in 2017 under Virat Kohli, they fell short against Pakistan.

Ahead of next month’s ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the UAE, doubts have emerged regarding Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s participation in the tournament’s pre-event captains’ meeting. According to Cricinfo, it remains undecided whether Sharma will travel to Pakistan for the event before the tournament's official start.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that Team India will sport the logo of Pakistan on their national jersey for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 matches.

In response over the development, former Pakistan star Basit Ali said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should lodge a complaint and play smartly on the issue.
