The U.S. Treasury Department has agreed not to give Elon Musk’s government efficiency agency access to its payment systems while a judge hears arguments in a lawsuit alleging the billionaire adviser to U.

A group of Democratic state attorneys general have vowed to sue the Trump administration over Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency attempt to access federal payment systems containing personal information. Attorneys general from 14 states, including New York’s Letitia James, are leading the charge.

The U.S. Department of Justice has agreed to limit Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency's access to the Treasury Department's federal payment system.

The attorneys general said in a statement that they would take action “in defense of our Constitution (and) our right to privacy."
