We’ve seen plenty of Chicago mayors do things that turned out to be wildly unpopular in retrospect. Richard M. Daley’s disastrous parking-meter deal leaps to mind. But Mayor Brandon Johnson’s continued insistence on ending Chicago’s use of the ShotSpotter gun-detection technology is one for the record books when it comes to head-scratching political decisions.
