Australian breakdancer Raygun will not retire from professional competition following her viral 2024 Paris Olympics performance

B-girl Rachael "Raygun" Gunn explains that she is retiring from elite competitions but will continue to dance.

The Australian dancer was mired in controversy after competing at this year's Paris Olympics and going viral for being awarded zero points when competing . She announced her retirement on Wednesday on 2DayFM’s The Jimmy and Nath Show, saying breakdancing is “really difficult” for her now.

Raygun further explained that she will never leave the world of breakdancing behind. “I’m not retiring. You try and stop me. I’m not ever going to stop dancing. So if you hear that again, you know that it’s not the truth. You can’t retire from an art form. So that's why I’m never going to stop,” she said.

Australian B-girl Rachael Gunn said it would be “difficult” to compete now with the “level of scrutiny that’s going to be there,” although she still loved dancing.

I’m not wildly into following sports, but I did find Raygun one of the highlights of this year’s Olympic lineup. Raygun, whose actual name is Rachael Gunn, is a 37-year-old Australian breakdancer who skyrocketed to fame back in August.
