The automaker forecast overall profitability for 2025, but even that was lower than in 2024. For the fourth quarter, it reported a net profit of $1.8 billion, up from a loss of $500 million in the year-ago quarter as pension-related costs weighed on results.

Ford managed to beat Wall Street’s expectations for the fourth quarter of 2024, posting $48.2 billion in revenue, up $2.2 billion year-over-year. Gains from its gas-powered vehicle sales helped offset net losses from an unprofitable EV business.

Ford is projecting its electric car business will lose another $5.5 billion dollars this year. That figure matches last year’s deficit and eclipses the $4.7 billion the company lost building EVs in 2023—so for those of you keeping track at home that's a projection of roughly $15 billion in losses.

Ford’s Model e electric division has stacked up some staggering losses in recent years, recording a $5.1 billion shortfall in 2024. Unfortunately, the automaker said it expects to lose even more in 2025 as a challenging market and an unpredictable political landscape take their toll.
