Acuña is the first Mets player ever to record a single, double, triple and home run in his first five games with an at-bat.

Acuna was sure-handed in the Mets' win, converting four of six outs at shortstop — including two in the 10th with the go-ahead run at third. He was back out there Tuesday night.

When Francisco Lindor went down with a back injury last Friday in Philadelphia, the Mets’ playoff prospects seemed to be in serious trouble. But Luisangel Acuña has come up and taken Queens by storm.

The Mets had mulled bringing up Acuna for a while, president of baseball operations David Stearns said. They decided to go for it after Francisco Lindor tweaked his back Friday night -- and was out of the lineup but potentially available off the bench Saturday.
