Macy’s is closing 66 locations in its “Bold New Chapter” plan to focus on high-performing stores and scale back on underperforming locations.

Department store chain Macy’s Inc. (NYSE:M) confirmed the closure of 66 stores as part of its “Bold New Chapter” strategy. Announced in February 2024, this strategy aims to improve profitability by eliminating underperforming locations and focusing resources on its more successful stores.

Macy’s announced the closing of 66 of its stores nationwide, including five in South Florida, as part of its “Bold New Chapter” strategy. That strategy is hardly a secret as the New York retail giant said last year Macy’s would close up to 150 under-performing stores through 2026 in an effort to shore up flagging profits.
