A New Jersey lottery player closed out the year with a bang by winning $1 million in the Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday.

A lucky ticket purchased in Mercer County helped someone head into the new year as a millionaire, officials said. A Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million was sold at Speedy Mart Food Store on Parkway Avenue in West Trenton,

Mega Millions tickets sold in Florida, Minnesota and New Jersey won $1 million, just missing the $20 million jackpot, lottery officials said. The tickets matched five winning numbers, but not the Mega Ball, in the drawing Tuesday, Dec. 31, the national Mega Millions site said.
