The seal named Chappy, which had been found flat on its stomach on a cold, snow-encrusted street in New Haven, Conn., had an intestinal disease, a necropsy showed.

"Chappy," a baby seal found stranded on a street near Yale University, has died from severe digestive issues, a local aquarium says.

The Mystic Aquarium announced on March 3 that Chappy, the baby seal found on a busy Connecticut street on Feb. 16, is dead. The seal was initially found "bright and alert and looking good," but caretakers later discovered that the baby animal had challenging digestive issues.
